At the suggestion of a member, we are trying out Starlight. Here's what people are saying about this place: "We went to Starlight for brunch on Sunday during our trip in town and it was good.. french toast was good and the eggs benedict were to standard. We also had some bancock eggs which were interesting." Pros: Good food Cons: Little pricey" "Starlite has inventive, sophisticated food without a hint of stuffiness... Food was delicious with interesting little twists to keep things exciting. We will definitely be back!" "The space is open and bright with lots of windows (most will remember the old Gilligan's, very similar) ... Mimosas were wonderful with just a hint of o.j....Orders arrived quickly and FINALLY someone knows how a poached egg is supposed to be soft whites with a warm, runny interior. They were wonderful and arrived with my tomato nestled between the ham and egg. Hollandaise sauce was really special with just a hint of tarragon (doesn't that technically make it béarnaise?) but so good I had to ask for just a bit more for dipping...A very pleasant start to a Sunday indeed." If the event if full and you'd still like to join, please RSVP no and indicate that. Usually something opens up just before the event. See you there! :)

At the recommendation of one of our members, join us on our first adventure to Mandola's Italian Market And Restaurant. Generations of Italian home-cooking are evident in every savory, but simply prepared dish. Damian's and Trina's cooking inspiration come from their frequent travels in Italy, from their explorations of Italian-American cooking, and from the cucina of Damian's mother, Grace. They believe in recipes that stand the test of time, and they believe in using the very same ingredients found in neighborhood trattorias throughout Sicily. If you'd like to join us and the event is full, please RSVP "No" and indicate that. I'll change your RSVP if room opens up. This happens pretty frequently right before the event. Cick here and then on the foods on the left to learn more about their menu. I'm leaning toward a latte and one of the pastries :)

At a suggestion of one of our members, we are trying out The Daily Grill. This restaurant is relatively new to Austin. While I couldn't find a single review about the brunch experience of the Austin location, here are some general reviews about the overall experience of this location: "One of several upscale restaurants at the Domain, the Daily Grill is offering solid preparation, generous portions and classy surroundings." "Modeled after the great big city grills of the 30s and 40s, Daily Grill serves traditional American fare." "With that food and ambiance, the Daily Grill is distinguishing itself at the Domain and should have a bright future as the area expands." We have our own private room reserved, but the trade off for this is that there is an automatic 20% gratuity (instead of 18%). Hope you can join us in experiencing this new place! If you'd like to join us and the event is full, please RSVP "No" and indicate that. I'll change your RSVP if room opens up. This happens pretty frequently right before the event. From CitySearch: "I got the bacon, egg, and potato taco and the bean, cheese, and potato taco. Both were sooooo delicious. The potatoes are just the way I like them, in between home fries and hashbrowns. I loved the environment just as much as the food. Something about the place reminded me of being on vacation. There was this really festive music, and I noticed many people were ordering margaritas for breakfast, which certainly seems like a vacation thing to do. I would bring any out of town guest here. Two warnings: Taco Xpress only takes cash and be sure that you do not park in the area to the side and behind. I saw a tow truck pulling out of there." "Delicious, filling breakfast tacos. (Remember, these are the real Mexican ones served on soft flour or corn tortillas, if you are looking for a crunchy shell please go to Taco Bell because that is not Mexican!) It's a casual place too, so put your order in with Maria at the register, pay up, then wait for your number to be called. Once you get your order, slather on some of the yummy, authentic homemade salsas. A bottled beer or soda, and a sunny seat outside make it perfect." If you'd like to join us and the event is full, please RSVP "No" and indicate that. I'll change your RSVP if room opens up. This happens pretty frequently right before the event.

"Come see us and walk through our garden or sit in the shade of our 125-year-old American Elm tree; shop in our cooking and gardening store, Pitchforks and Tablespoons; and let us feed you in the comfort of our old home. It will make you very happy." Menu here. http://www.eastsidec afeaustin.com/Master _Frameset_Menu.html

In 1989, Guy Villavaso, Larry Foles and Paul Fleming, created the Z' Tejas Southwestern Grill. The menu, largely influenced by their southern backgrounds, signifies the bold robust flavors of Arizona, California, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas. The founders brought their special talents and own expertise to the individual stores. All Z' restaurants share the soul, passion and core ideals, which are characterized by our award-winning food, signature margaritas and an unpretentious atmosphere. Here's the menu. http://www.ztejas.co m/menu_brunch.php?se ction=brunch I'm already drooling over the Bananas Foster French Toast.

Back to a brunch favorite. The Eastside Café sits on an acre of land surrounded by dozens of pecan trees. One third of the land is home to a gorgeous organic garden. For 15 years vegetables, herbs and flowers have been organically grown and harvested for use in the Eastside Café kitchen. We will be having two brunches on this day. This entry is for 2pm.
