Who should come

Anybody who likes to relax in the sand while enjoying a free air show will love this event .

Why

You do not have to be a beach lover (I am not), but it is great to sit on the beach and hear and watch the great show in the sky, while socializing with a group of friendly people from several groups.

How to find the organizer(s)

"Meet Parking Field 4, southeast side, at the east tunnel leading to the center mall (flags). We will gather at the cement bench by the tunnel.""

Details

Bring chair or blanket to sit on at the beach to watch the air show. After the show ends - approx. 3:00, we will walk the boardwalk and enjoy the exhibits and displays.

Can wear shorts or swimsuit, bring lunch, liquid, sunscreen, sun-hat, sunglasses, binoculars, camera. To determine if show will be canceled because of weather call Jones Beach (516-785 1600). FYI the show is also Sunday.

I will supply my cell phone number a few days before (my cell will only be active the day of the event- warning as beach fills up, cell stops working).

While the event is FREE, a parking fee of $8.00 will be collected. There is no parking fee if you have the NYS Empire Pass on your car. (FYI the pass is $59.00 valid from Apr 1 2008- Mar 31 2009. It can be used for all NYS parks that charge a parking fee.)

LI buses will start the JB run this weekend. Ask the driver to let you off at the Center Mall. Follow the path toward the flags, then take the path on your right. This path will turn, and lead to the tunnel going under the road, this tunnel leads to the SE side of parking lot 4.

I suggest you bring your own food since the food is expensive and the lines are HUGE.

    FYI the walk from the parking lot to 'our' spot on the beach is at a leisurely stroll. Remember we will be carrying our stuff (food, chair, UMBRELLA), there is no rush.

    Most likely yes I am usually at Point lookout not as crowded there -maybe consider that beach instead? they fly over there.
