I had brunch here a few weeks ago, and was impressed with both their variety of sweet and savory offerings, as well as the number of healthy options. Service was friendly, and recommendations were helpful. You get your own mini-pot of coffee on the table, for those of you who love the words "free refills." Their full breakfast and lunch menus are served from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm - you can check out the menu, as well as reviews, here: http://www.eggharbor cafe.com Egg Harbor Cafe is located within a strip mall, so parking should not be a problem. Add 30% to your food charge for tax and tip. Please plan on paying with CASH ONLY. Pre-payment of $2 will be required to RSVP yes to this event, which helps me pay for monthly charges by meetup.com. Cancellations must be received more than 24 hours in advance for a refund. If the event is full, RSVP "No" with a note to be added to the waiting list.

Ok, technically, we are going to Heaven on Seven for "breakfast" since the Wabash Street location doesn't serve "brunch." However, the menu looks very similar. You'll see your standard Cajun/Creole fare, such as crabcakes benedict, andouille sausage omelets, bananas foster french toast and cheese grits. You can view their breakfast/brunch menu online at http://www.heavenons even.com/wabash.html Street Parking (metered) available, but difficult, but the Wabash location is in the heart of the loop, so it is accessible by most forms of public transportation. Add 30% to your food charge for tax and tip. Please plan on paying with CASH ONLY - HOS doesn't accept credit cards. Pre-payment of $2 will be required to RSVP yes to this event, which helps me pay for monthly charges by meetup.com. Cancellations must be received more than 24 hours in advance for a refund. If the event is full, RSVP "No" with a note to be added to the waiting list.

Mexique chef and co-owner Carlos Gaytan has a Mexican-French culinary background (he hails from the Mexican state of Guerrero, trained with French chef Dominique Tougne (Bistro 110), and clocked kitchen time at Bistrot Margot and the Union League Club), so don't go looking for Mexican standards like burritos here. Gaytan's French-influenced Mexican menu features choices such as a seafood mousse tamale, and a duo of herb-crusted rack of lamb and coffee-braised lamb shoulder barbacoa style with an eggplant sope. The decor features earthy tones with pops of burnt orange; seating options include a granite-topped dining counter/bar and comfy banquette seating. You can view their brunch menu online at www.mexiquechicago.c om. Street Parking available. CTA bus: 66 Chicago, 9 Ashland Blue line, Division stop. Add 30% to your food charge for tax and tip. Most of Chef Gilbert Langlois' offerings are influenced by the many cuisines he has worked with in the past - classic French, new American, Asian, Creole, and the tricks he learned in his grandmother and mother's Italian kitchens. His seasonal menu offerings post on the restaurant's oversized chalkboard, but there's also a more traditional printed menu of mainstays. To view a sample of the brunch menu, visit the site here: http://www.chalkboar drestaurant.com/menu -brunch.asp Chalkboard does not take reservations, and I was advised to show up close to their 10:00 am opening. Let's try this one again. Our December meetup at Frontera Grill had to be cancelled due to inclement weather - hopefully we will be done with that by March. Chef Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill won the Outstanding Restaurant award from the James Beard Foundation in 2007, and FG was also was ranked as the third-best casual dining restaurant IN THE WORLD by the International Herald Tribune. Frontera Grill is the casual sister of Rick's other Chicago restaurant, Topolobampo. The brunch menu changes monthly, but the current menu will give you an idea of the treats that await you in March: http://www.rickbayle ss.com/menu/layout?i d=7 Add 30% to your food charge for tax and tip. Please plan on paying with CASH ONLY. I will send you out to a cash station if you try to pay with a card :) Parking: Valet parking available. Street parking difficult. Our holiday bills are paid, our pants have shrunk back to their original size and we're ready to go back out and stimulate the economy. The Greenhouse at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago offers a FABULOUS buffet spread that can't be missed - it took up two rooms the last time I was there. While I don't know exactly what will be on the menu in February, some of the offerings you might find include cold shrimp and rock crab claws, beef wellington, imported cheese trays, build-your-own omelette stations, ham on the bone, souffles, breakfast pastries, smoked salmon, salads and fresh fruit. The Sunday buffet will cost $55, excluding beverages, tax and tip. They will give us seperate checks, so you are welcome to pay with a credit card - THIS time! :) Public Transportation: CTA bus: 125-Water Tower Exp., 151-Sheridan, 145-Wilson/Michigan, 146-Marine/Michigan, 147-Outer Drive Express, 157-Streeterville. Red Line train: Chicago stop. Taxi cabs plentiful. Parking: Paid Lot, Street Parking Difficult, and Valet. Paid lot: Reduced parking with validation. Street parking difficult. Valet parking. Because there were many people left on the waiting list when we visited Green Zebra for brunch in September, I promised to return. Green Zebra offers a mainly vegetarian menu, with a few fish dishes (such as Citrus Crab Salad Sandwiches) thrown in for good measure. As small as the menu is, you still might have trouble deciding what to order, as everything is enticing in its own way. http://www.greenzebr a... http://chicago.metro m... They don't accept reservations for brunch, and brunch is only offered on Sundays. I was told to call early on the day of the event to let them know a large group would be coming, so PLEASE keep your responses up to date. Parking: Street and valet parking available. Public Transportation: Blue Line, Chicago Avenue stop. CTA bus: 66-Chicago; 9-Ashland; 56-Milwaukee. Taxi cabs plentiful. Add 30% to your food charge for tax and tip. Orange is the perfect place to go for breakfast or lunch in the south loop. The atmosphere is very pleasant and leaves you with the perfect vibe to start your day. The menu is full of very creative dishes that are all delicious and unique. Orange is also famous for their Fresh squeezed juice bar. You are able to "build-your-own " juice, selecting from a list of over 20 seasonally-fresh fruits & veggies. The friendly staff at Orange will then squeeze your juice fresh -- right before your eyes! Guests can watch as the restaurant’s famous organic house-blend orange coffee (organic beans roasted with oil extracted from orange peels) is pumped out through the bar’s original beer tap system. Favorite dishes include a pancake flight (four stacks of silver dollar pancakes dressed completely different with one common weekly-changing theme) and French toast kabobs (coconut-infused, skewered and grilled with fresh strawberries and pineapples, served with coconut-mango salad). The weekly changing specials are a draw themselves: everything from Trailer Park Pancakes (cornmeal pancakes topped with BBQ chicken, served with a side of apple slaw and garnished with a spork, Wet-Nap and a six-ounce can of Budweiser) to Irish Toast (cinnamon French toast with basil crème anglaise topped with strawberry plumped cherries and served in Bailey’s Irish Cream, garnished with a pocket breathalyzer test). Orange is BYOB. http://chicampus.com /citylife.php?name=O range http://chicago.metro mix.com/restaurants/ contemporary/orange- on-harrison-south-lo op/144859/content Add 30% to your food charge for tax and tip. One of our members suggested we try an Indian brunch, which I thought would be a challenge. But Viceroy of India on Devon Avenue offers a brunch buffet every day of the week, for a very reasonable $11.95 on weekends (beverages and tax excluded). Not only that, but they take reservations! Unique in its culture and heritage, Viceroy of India truly defines the essence of authentic Indian food. For more than twenty years Viceroy has been a "Little India" favorite and recent recipient of the Silver Platter Award giving it the title of "Voted #1 Favorite Indian Restaurant". Viceroy serves mouthwatering North and South Indian cuisine. Current house favorites include Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer, Garlic Nan, and Old Delhi Lamb Chops. Viceroy is also known for its homemade mango kulfi (ice cream) that has kept customers going back for more. It also boasts a nice wine list and features the best selection of Indian beer such as Taj and Kingfisher. Viceroy has been rated as excellent by Chicago Tribune, and Zagat Survey. It is among AOL City Guides best Indian restaurants, and higly rated online. http://www.viceroyof india.com/ http://www.yelp.com/ biz/viceroy-of-india -chicago-2 Parking: Street parking available. Public Transportation: CTA Bus: 155 Devon, 49B Western. In order to try and reduce the number of no-shows, I am experimenting with Amazon Payments to collect fees beforehand. The cost of brunch plus $1 meetup fee and Amazon fees is included in the price total; beverages and tax are not and will be calculated at the time of the meal. If the event is full, RSVP in the no section with a note to be added to the waiting list.
